Together with Cisco, Labs² is supplying a unique wireless infrastructure as the next phase of PoC Gigabit in Lund. The fixed broadband network in Lund Municipality is now being supplemented with a pilot project for the next generation of wireless network using the 802.11n technology which has a theoretical maximum performance of 540 Mbit/s. Together with our client ViaEuropa, Labs² will be offering the wireless network initially to a number of selected locations in Lund city centre. The ambition is to cover all the important areas in the inner-city within one year. Through its business support system BRIKKS and an integration with selected Cisco products, Labs² will be offering ViaEuropa's existing customers the chance of freely selecting its service suppliers, over both the fixed and wireless networks. “The new wireless network seems particularly interesting. It will be exciting to see what the new technology can offer,” says Peter Mellvé, CEO at LKF. “What is being rolled out in Lund now is unique in Europe. The speed of the wireless network is exceptional as is the availability,” says Jonas Phragmén at Cisco Sweden. “In order to create real value in fixed and wireless broadband, many actors need to be able to cooperate in an efficient and secure way. Labs² has developed the business support system BRIKKS to deal with this very challenge. What we are creating together with our partners in Lund is the inherent potential of genuine broadband. Users can finally gain access to real broadband,” says Jonas Birgersson, CEO at Labs².
