Labs² receives an order from ViaEuropa for CMTS integration with BRIKKS
Press release

Today Labs² received an order from ViaEuropa for the integration of CMTS (cable modem termination system) with the BRIKKS business support system, used by ViaEuropa to manage a number of open local networks. The work is due to be completed before the turn of the year and will give ViaEuropa the capacity to supply open networks in the next generation of cable TV networks.

“The Scandinavian market has a large number of potential customers for improved cable TV technology. When Labs² has delivered this integration, in partnership with Cable TV companies, ViaEurope will be able to offer open networks to a whole new target group,” says Iwe Persson, ViaEuropa.

Large international interest for the concept of open broadband networks
News

Sweden is already well advanced in fibre-based local networks with open competition and expansion is ongoing throughout the country. This has given us low price broadband and speeds that other countries can only dream of. International interest in this model is now on the increase.

A report soon to be presented to OECD maintains that the conventional model of the network owner having sole rights to the supply of services restricts competition and the development of new services. This is according to an article in Business Week calling for open networks with modern infrastructures.

With our powerful BRIKKS business support system, we at Labs² are ready to provide the broadband market with the features it requires.
